The 10th Congressional District Special General Election is in effect, and we want to ensure you have all the necessary information to get out and vote. This election will determine who will represent the 10th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.  This Special General Election is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2024, with early voting beginning Sunday, September 8th to Monday, September 16th. Here, we’ll outline everything you need to know about New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District Special General Election, including the Democratic nominee and the various voting methods.

As this Special General Election comes to a close on September 18th, it’s important to understand the various voting methods available to you. Here they are:


Early Voting for the 10th Congressional District Special General Election


Early Voting for the 10th Congressional District Special General Election began on Sunday, September 8, 2024, and runs through Monday, September 16, 2024. During this period, registered voters can cast their ballots at designated early voting locations throughout the district. Check with your local County Clerk’s Office or visit the New Jersey Division of Election website to find the nearest early voting locations and hours of operations.   We have the latest  information here:


Hours- Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 

               Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

- Irvington Municipal Building- 1 Civic SQ W Irvington, NJ 07111

Vote-by-Mail

If you prefer to vote by mail, you can request a mail-in ballot by completing the Vote-by-mail application. The application can be downloaded or obtained at your local County Clerk’s Office. Once you receive your ballot, carefully follow the instructions, use blue or black ink to make your selections, and return your completed ballot by mail, secure drop box, or in person at the County Clerk’s Office. Your ballot must be postmarked on or before 8 p.m. on September 18, 2024, and received within six days after Election Day to be counted.


Election Day Voting

Election Day is September 18, 2024. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Contact your County Clerk’s Office or visit the New Jersey Division of Elections to find your designated polling locations.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about the upcoming 10th Congressional District Special General Election.


1. Is there Early Voting for the 10th Congressional District Special General Election? 

Yes! Early voting will continue through September 16th, 2024. The hours for Early Voting are Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 


2. Which municipalities are included in the 10th Congressional District Special Election?


The Essex municipalities include  East Orange, Irvington, Maplewood, Millburn, Orange, West Orange, South Orange, and specific locations in Montclair and Newark.

 

3. What is the deadline to submit Vote-by-Mail ballots?


Ballots sent by mail must be received within six days after Election Day and be postmarked on or before 8:00 p.m. on September 18, 2024. Ballots dropped off at a secure ballot drop or the Clerk’s Office must be placed in the box by 8:00 p.m. on September 18, 2024.


4. What early voting locations are open in Essex County for the 10th Congressional District Special General Election?


In Essex County, there are seven (7) locations where registered voters can cast ballots early:

5. What are the requirements for voting in the special general election?

To vote in the special general election, you must be a United States citizen, 18 years of age, a county resident for at least 30 days before the election, and not be convicted of any indictable offenses. Check to make sure you live in the 10th Congressional District.


6. Can I track my ballot?

 Yes, all voters can track their Mail-in Ballot by visiting the Track My Ballot Portal. You must create an account to use this portal.
