Stephen Weinstein Steve Weinstein provides a critical finance and management background to the Council as a former managing director for Salomon Brothers, Citigroup, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He received an MBA from the University of Chicago and sits on several nonprofit boards. Steve is seeking reelection for a second term on the North Caldwell Borough Council. Over the last 3 years, Steve has worked with the Council to: ▪Install new pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts at Liberty Park. ▪Transform Walker Park into a functional open space. ▪Authorize the installation of a cell tower to enhance safety and communication. ▪Approve the installation of the traffic light on Mountain Avenue to enhance safety in front of our school. ▪Hire more police officers to expand the North Caldwell Police Department for the first time in 15 years. ▪Deliver minimal tax increases to residents: 0% for 2023 and 2.79% for 2024–while the national measure of inflation, the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose 7.3% over the same time period.
Stephen (Papa) Papageorge Steve "Papa" Papageorge is new to North Caldwell, moving here in 2021 with his young family. He has an educational background in civil and environmental engineering and a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan University. With over 15 years of experience, Steve is a board-certified Professional Engineer in New York and New Jersey. Additionally, he is a certified NJ EnergyStar Benchmarker, a FEMA ICS200 Emergency Response Incident Commander, and an Envision Sustainability Professional. Steve collaborates with NJ-based engineering consultants, utilities, and other industrial entities to facilitate compliance with state and federal regulations. His deep professional experience with and understanding of construction permitting, design, and oversight, as well as environmental investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, will bring much-needed expertise and skills to the issues the Town Council addresses.
